Apply for the 2024 IBPOC Fellowship

Single Thread Theatre Company is currently accepting applications to be a part of the 2024 IBPOC Fellowship cohort!

The IBPOC Fellowship is an annual initiative that runs alongside the Performance and XR (PXR) Conference. The fellowship aims to uplift IBPOC artists and reduce barriers to entering the XR and live performance industry. 

This year, the IBPOC fellowship has multiple offerings that you can apply to receive, including:

• $250-500 honorarium
• A free Meta Quest 3s headset for fellows to keep
• Free conference passes to PXR2024
• Access to using Single Thread VR headsets during the conference
• Access to exclusive meet and greets with the PXR2024 Keynote and Futurenote speakers
• Access to a complimentary show from the PXR2024 Experience stream
• Access to exclusive social gatherings in VRChat to form connections with other fellows
• One-on-one mentorship with industry professionals
• Access to free workshops on XR performance creation

Applicants may receive some but not all of the fellowship offerings as there are hard limits to how many honorariums and headsets we can give out. We will be assessing applications based on impact/need and artistic merit.

Who should apply?

• IBPOC artists residing within Canada
• Emerging artists in live performance fields, including but not limited to dance artists, theatre artists, musicians, designers, media artists, filmmakers, visual artists, video game designers
• 18+ (no upper age limit)
• No experience with VR is necessary!
• We will be prioritizing applicants from equity-seeking communities, including but not limited the following communities: Trans, queer, Disability, Neurodivergent, Mad, Fat, low income, newcomer and refugee

We will be aiming to get back to all applicants with results by October 25, 2024.
