Call for ProposalsPXR2027

The PXR Conference celebrates the evolution of live performance in XR; that is virtual, augmented and mixed reality. Now in its 7th year, this national event brings Canadian & global creators together in VRChat and in-person across the country to share best practices for working within these new media. We are seeking proposals for PXR2027, which will take place in late February 2027.

This year, we are accepting applications that are 2D (Stream), Virtual (in VRChat) or In Person.

VR Projects – Remote

Works experienced entirely within virtual reality, where the audience is fully immersed via headset or desktop PC. This includes interactive VR workshops, live VR performances, multiplayer VR gatherings, and artistic VR environments. These projects should be designed to take advantage of VR’s immersive and interactive environments.

MR & AR Projects – Physical Venue

Works that take place in a physical space but incorporate Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR) to layer digital elements onto the real world. This includes installations, live XR performances, AR exhibitions, projection mapping, and hybrid works where audiences are physically present. Accepting applications to present in Toronto and Kingston Ontario as well as Vancouver. Please note you do not need to be in any of those cities to apply.

Two-Dimensional – Remote

Projects presented through a livestream or video conferencing feed. This includes livestreamed talks or presentations on platforms like Zoom, panel discussions, artist Q&As, recorded walkthroughs and demos.

If you are new to PXR, we would encourage you to reach out to discuss your project and application by emailing contactus@singlethread.ca. We are also happy to provide application accessibility assistance. Any questions about the conference or application process may be directed to the email address above.
